Have a look at this handcrafted wooden commemorative baseball bat.

Turned to Rawlings specifications, this bat could be used for play, but was made with the intention to display.

This 33" lathe turned maple display bat that has been flame tempered with a blow torch to harden the wood and add aesthetic character.  I stained the bat in cherry stain, painted the handle a two-toned black/blonde paint.  Finally the bat has been finished in six coats of woodturner's polyurethane to a gorgeous high gloss sheen.
