This carved floral themed wooden jewelry box has been sitting in my stock room waiting for me to put the final touches on it for months.  That time has finally arrived...!

I installed a solid brass side rail hinge to assist the box hinges in holding this heavy exotic wood lid sturdily in place when perched open.

I also felt lined the lid on the box (bottom of lid top and top of box base) so the box has a nice, soft closing action.

The box body is made from highly figured American walnut.  

The beautiful, rich, red-colored lid wood is African padauk and the decorative inlay pieces around the edges and corners of the box are also padauk.

There are four intricate inset floral carvings on all sides of the box, plus the "relief" lid carving which is made from South American purpleheart and is the main focal point of this gorgeous handcrafted keepsake box.  

Fine joinery throughout including finger and dovetail joints to add in the overall strength and looks.
Two removable, felt-lined, cherry wood storage trays with plenty of storage space.  

The box measures 12" x 12" x 5 1/2", has solid brass, inset box hinges.

Finished in three coats of Danish oil and a final polishing coat of furniture wax.
