Check out this handmade sliding lid chess piece storage box  that I recently completed, featuring an ambrosia maple body and sliding Honduran rosewood lid.

The lids showcase this gorgeous decorative crown relief carving (the carving of the lid took 10 hours!). The pull out side of the lid has a raised edge to more easily grab onto for sliding.

Each box corner is reinforced with three pieces of walnut spline joinery.

The boxes measure 13.5"L x 7.5"W x 7"H. I designed these boxes with this dimension so that my competition chess set can be stored in the bottom of the box standing up to a near perfect fit... with space to spare!

There is one, felt-lined drawer (the felt can be removed if so desired) that can be used for a chess clock, notepads, writing utensils, etc.

The boxes are finished with four coats of my proprietary furniture wax on the box exterior.
